Yes, my friends, it's that time of year once again. The 18th annual ImageOut Film Festival has arrived! You can now all expect Matt and I to bombard you with programs and pester you to join us for a movie or two. We're both really excited for this year's festival, and after all our hard work helping to put it all together, we'd love it if you'd come out and show your support for the festival. The festival will run from October 8th - October 17th. The last date for in-person ticket sales is this Thursday, September 30th, from 6 - 8pm at the Imageout office in Village Gate. You can also order tickets through the ImageOut website anytime through Thursday, October 7th at 5:00pm.
To help make your decision about what to see a little easier, here's our handy guide to which films we'll be seeing, with a brief, semi-helpful, totally cracked-out description along with a link to the film's trailer. You can find more detailed descriptions if you click the film's title, or if you already have a festival program guide.

Friday, October 8th
THE FOUR-FACED LIAR, 6:30pm (Little Theatre)
A group of four friends has their little circle rocked when one of the girls falls for the other girl, leaving the boys to wonder "WTF girls?!" All four lead actors will be in attendance!

James "Sexy" Franco plays famous poet Al "Capone" Ginsberg in a cool period film with jazz, abstract animation, and Jon "Mad Man" Hamm.

UNDERTOW, 6:45pm (Little Theatre)
Haven't seen this one, but as far as we know, this is about a fisherman who falls for another dude in Peru. City Newspaper film critic Dayna Papaleo said it has a ghost in it?!

Comedy about a "fruit fly" looking for love, outside of her circle of gay friends. It's gonna be a little raunchy. The film's director & writer will be in attendance!

FLOWER CITY FLICKS, 11:30am (Dryden Theatre)
This will be our first time attending the annual program of locally-produced short films. Come out and support local filmmakers!
THE LAST SUMMER OF LA BOYITA, 1:45pm (Dryden Theatre)
A beautifully shot Argentinian drama about a little girl's friendship with a young boy named Mario. It's a tough sell, but it really is one of the best film's we're showing this year.

The title really says it all. A wickedly funny, Grindhouse-style, "transploitation" film. It's gonna be bloody and it's gonna be AWESOME. AND! The director's gonna be there!!

30th(ish) Anniversary presentation of the classic documentary examining the lives of gay and lesbian individuals.

TWISTED LOVE, 9:45pm (Little Theatre)
The "out-there" shorts program. Last year, outraged audiences flooded the festival blog with comments calling for the programming committee's heads. So be warned: it's gonna be graphic, it's gonna be tense, and there's explicit pornographic gay sex. Matt: "SOLD!" There's also a short film directed by James Franco included!
Wednesday, October 13th
TWO SPIRITS, 6:30pm (Ingle Auditorium)
A documentary examining Native American culture / beliefs as it relates to transgendered people (they were originally revered as being of "two spirits"), and how it ties in to the horrible murder of a Native American transgendered kid in Arizona a few years ago. Another film we haven't seen, but it looks really good.

A documentary about the obsession with "buff" guys in the gay culture. In other words, it's a documentary, with a lot of buff guys.

I KILLED MY MOTHER, 1:30pm (Dryden Theatre)
Adam's favorite film in the festival this year, this drama examines a young teen's turbulent relationship with his mother. If you've ever been a teenager and argued with your parents, you'll be able to relate to this film. The film's 20-year-old director is also it's writer and lead actor, and it went on to win 3 awards at the Cannes film festival!

Cute, fluffy gay comedy about mistaken identity involving a writer-guy, his go-go-boy roommate, and a musician-cowboy. COWBOY HAT!! One of the film's lead actors will be in attendance!
